WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University Head Volleyball Coach Jaime Terenzi announced her 2017 roster Monday morning.
A pair of all-state setters highlight an 11-woman recruiting class that Terenzi has brought in to add to her eight returnees.
Robey was a first team All-State honoree for Group 1A with Hillyard a second team selection in Group 4A.
The pair are also two of five setters coming into the program this fall. Gabby Coradazzi (Lynchburg, Virginia), Hannah Lien (Osakis, Minnesota) and Emily Veach (Manchester, Maryland) all will vie with Hillyard and Robey for the right to run the Hornets offense.
Haley Brown (Charlottesville, Virginia), Cassie Didinger (Boyertown, Pennsylvania), Madison Inzunza (Lorton, Virginia), Sabrina Semo (Bethlehem, Pennsylvania) and Ashley Thompson (Burke, Virginia) round out the freshman class with local product Kirsten Mullen also joining the team after sitting out last year.
"We graduated two setters last spring who were four-year standouts for us," Terenzi said. "Therefore, we had to make sure we had depth at this position this year.
"The women we brought in not only are going to help us at the net, but along the back line and on the outside as well.
"This class is very talented - I think that Cassie and Hannah are going to be excellent offensive players for us - and is going to help us return to the ODAC Tournament."
Shenandoah opens its season September 1-2 at the University of Scranton Tournament.
