Jackets Blank Women's Soccer

ASHLAND, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's soccer team dropped a 4-0 ODAC decision at Randolph-Macon Wednesday afternoon.

R-MC (8-0-1, 4-0-1 ODAC) needed just two and a half minutes to take the lead on Wednesday and scored four consecutive goals in the first half to defeat the Hornets (6-6, 2-2).

HOW IT HAPPENED

03′ | Gabby Nelson was able to score from outside the box after Emilie Smith came out to contest a 50-50 ball.

09′ | Two minutes later Meghan Skevington scored in the upper left corner. Abbie Winklemann was credited with the assist crossing it from the right side of the field.

28′ | Kylie Martino's service up the field found Nicole Czyzewski whose shot cleared Smith's head to bring the score to 3-0.

38′ | Erin Lee found Bonita Soliday to her right, Soliday's shot went in on the near post.

UP NEXT

Women's soccer is on the road this weekend. On Saturday they travel to Ferrum College to make up their postponed match from September at 4 p.m. then play at Guilford on Sunday at 1 p.m.

MATCH NOTES

  • R-MC outshot SU 19-16.

  • Shenandoah recorded six shots on goal.

  • R-MC had a heavy advantage in corners 7-1.

  • Shenandoah goalies combined for four saves. Smith recorded two in the first half before being relieved by Anna Jacobson.

  • Macon snapped a 5-game losing streak to Shenandoah today. SU owns a 6-4 advantage in the all-time series with the Yellow Jackets.
