Four Earn All-ODAC Honors

Four Earn All-ODAC Honors

FOREST, Va.- Four Shenandoah University women's lacrosse players earned All-ODAC honors in selections announced Wednesday by the league office.

Junior Emma Hardisky headlines the group after being named to the first team as a defender.

The regular-season leading scorer in the ODAC, sophomore Alyson Bittinger, repeats as an All-ODAC honoree by joining Hardisky on the first team as a midfielder.

The duo are the first two women's lacrosse players to earn first team All-ODAC accolades in the past four years.

Juniors Nikki Zerna and Jess Spindler round out the Hornets' selections with second team honors at attack and defense, respectively.

Hardisky, who led the league in caused turnovers with 34, is consistently tasked with marking up against the opponents biggest offensive threat and plays an integral role in the Hornets' transition game.

She scooped up 25 groundballs and committed just nine turnovers in 19 games.

Bittinger, the 2018 ODAC Rookie of the Year, ended the season with 61 goals and six assists for 67 points.

Her 61 goals was good for second in the league and she is sixth in points.

Bittinger ends ODAC play with a league-high 93 draw controls along with 34 groundballs.

Zerna picks up her first ODAC award after her most productive season in an SU uniform. She scored 38 goals in the 2019 season, second most on the team, and dished out a team-high 19 assists for 57 points.

Spindler picks up her second ODAC award after being named to the All-Tournament team as a sophomore with her second team All-ODAC nod.

The junior defender picked up 31 groundballs and tied for second on the team for caused turnovers with 21.

In seven seasons of ODAC play, SU has had 35 women earn All-ODAC honors.
