LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team has reached the ODAC Tournament semi-finals for the third straight year thanks to a 12-11 quarterfinals round win over Lynchburg Wednesday evening.
Shenandoah (12-6) found itself down two goals at halftime, but was dominant for the first 20 minutes of the second half in earning the victory over Lynchburg (9-8).
SU scored the initial six goals of the second half, holding Lynchburg off the board until the 6:51 mark, to turn a 7-5 halftime deficit into an 11-7 lead.
Lynchburg refused to fold its tent, however, and cut the deficit to just one, 12-11, on a Danielle Hook goal with 26 seconds remaining.
Jordyn Miller, who finished with three goals and one assist, had what proved to be the game-winning goal with an unassisted tally at the 3:40 mark.
Lynchburg scored the final three goals of the game but could not get the equalizer.
"I think it was just confidence," head coach Lindsey Lutz said of what sparked the second half run. "They threw a zone at us and once we adjusted to it, we started to score goals.
"It feels great to be back in the semi-finals. We feel that is where we belong."
