Women's Lax Quarterfinals Preview

WINCHESTER, Va.-- The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team will be making its sixth appearance in the ODAC Tournament in seven seasons of league play with its quarterfinal round contest at Lynchburg Wednesday evening.

Shenandoah (11-5) finished in a three-way tie for third place, but earned the No. 5 seed based on the goal differential tie-breaker among Roanoke and Lynchburg.

All three teams finished 6-3 in conference play.

Roanoke defeated Shenandoah by three on senior day and lost by one to Lynchburg to be awarded the third seed as they had a plus-two goal differential.

Lynchburg was even in their matchups with a one-goal loss at SU and a the one-goal victory over RC to give them the fourth position.

Virginia Wesleyan rounds out the the top six and will play at Roanoke in Game 2.

The winners of Game 1 and Game 2 will travel to Lexington on May 4th to take on top-seeded Washington & Lee and second-seeded Randolph-Macon.

Sophomore Alyson Bittinger leads the ODAC in goals this season with 54 and her 60 points is good for fifth in the league.

Shenandoah is fifth in the league in goals at 13.71, just 0.1 behind No. 4 Lynchburg. Defensively, Lynchburg is third at 9.50 goals allowed and SU fifth with 10.53.

Shenandoah goalkeeper Gionna Maria has 125 saves with Lynchburg goalies Emmy Yarmy and Lauren Bodamer combining to make 105 stops.

Offensively, Kelsi Trevisan has 69 points and Alicia Sandoval 68 for Lynchburg. Trevisan is the goal scorer with 47 goals and 22 assists while 35 of Sandoval's 68 points come as assists.

Wednesday's game is the 11th all-time between the two sets of ODAC Hornets with Lynchburg winning seven of the previous 10 matchups. Four of the previous five contests have been decided by one goal.
