ASHLAND, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team suffered a heart-breaking 10-9 loss at Randolph-Macon to conclude the 2019 regular season slate Saturday afternoon.

Shenandoah (11-6, 6-3 ODAC) battled back from a 6-2 deficit at the start of the second half with a 6-1 run to take an 8-7 lead over Randolph-Macon (11-6, 8-1).

Unfortunately for the Hornet fans, the 'Jackets would net three of the last four goals and held control of the ball for the final 90 seconds to secure the second seed for the ODAC women's lacrosse tournament.

R-MC scored first with an unassisted goal at the 27:58 mark and buried a free position goal just 25 seconds later.

Cassie Arndt and Alyson Bittinger goals sandwiched the third 'Jackets goal.

Randolph-Macon scored two more goals before the break giving the hosts' a 5-2 advantage.

Mary Castle scored for the 'Jackets just 45 seconds into the second half.

The Hornets would find some life and tally three straight with Nikki Zerna scoring first and a pair free position goals from Bittinger and Zerna.

In the second half, the Hornets were perfect from the 8-meter arc scoring on their four attempts.

Emma Stiffler lined up for a free position attempt and opted to feed Zerna at the crease to tie up the game 7-7 with 14:41 remaining in the contest.

An Arndt free position goal put SU up for the first time before an R-MC tally evened it back up at 8-8.

The Hornets took a one goal lead when freshman Emma Stiffler found classmate Kaitlyn Morris at the 11:16 mark.

The Yellow Jackets scored the next two goals to steal the game from Shenandoah.
