FERRUM, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team weathered multiple weather delays Sunday to defeat Ferrum College 19-6 in ODAC action.

Shenandoah (11-3, 6-0 ODAC) extends the winning streak to six games with the win over Ferrum (3-10, 0-6).

With today's win, SU clinches a spot in the playoffs and moves to the top of the ODAC with No. 1 Washington and Lee a half-game back. The Hornets have yet to play W&L, Randolph-Macon and Roanoke who round out the top-4 teams in conference standings.

Shenandoah is two wins away from tying the program record for victories in a season. The 2012 squad finished 13-5.

IN BRIEF

The Panthers struck first when Megan Allen scored 1:05 into the contest from a Micaela Harvey feed.

Kaitlyn Morris found Anna Baxter shortly after to tie it up. Ferrum would take the lead again after an unassisted Megan Allen goal before SU went on a 3-0 run to take control of the contest.

FC would go on to scatter goals throughout the first half to break up Hornet scoring streaks.

Macy Tignor, who had four assists on the day, found freshman Natalie Nichols for the eventual game-winner an seventh goal of the game at the seven-minute mark.

After an extensive delay to start the second half, the two teams were allowed to return to play around 5:45 p.m.

Shenandoah scored five straight to break the 10-goal barrier in order to earn a running clock thanks to a Simonson feed to Alyson Bittinger with 20:38 remaining on the clock.
