Dickinson Rallies for Women's Lax Victory

WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Dickinson College scored the final three goals Saturday to rally for a 9-8 non-league women's lacrosse victory over Shenandoah.

Trailing 8-6, Dickinson (3-0) scored three goals in a span of 3:01 midway through the second half to steal the victory over Shenandoah (0-3).

The Hornets had two chances in the final five minutes but DC keeper JoJo Auerbach came up with a save on both occasions to preserve the victory.

Dickinson then ran out the last two minutes of the clock in its offensive end.

Prior to the three-goal rally, SU had only briefly trailed in the contest.

Senior Samantha Sisson, who finished with a goal and three assists, got the hosts on the board with a free position goal at 27:21.

The Red Devils answered with goals at 23:17 and 22:23 before Shenandoah took the lead with a three-goal run of its own in a span of 1:39.

Samantha Donaghy started the run with free position goal at 17:52 followed by Miranda Rudacille and Becky Bove tallies at 16:31 and 16:13, respectively.

Dickinson, on two Caroline Clancy goals, tied the game at 4-4 heading into the break.

Shenandoah started the second with another three-goal run, with Donaghy scoring twice, before DC ended the game on a 5-1 run.

Junior Liz Bereit had the only SU goal during this spurt.

Dickinson outshot Shenandoah 23-18 and held an 11-8 advantage in draw controls.

The two teams split 32 groundballs.

Ashley Cross had 13 saves in the losing effort.

The Hornets host Frostburg State Wednesday night at 7.
