YORK, Pa. – The Shenandoah University women's golf team opened up the inaugural Spartan Invitational hosted by York College of Pennsylvania Saturday with a sixth-place showing.

Playing the par-73, 5810-yard York Country Club, the Hornets had a collective 368 on day one of the two-day, 36-hole event. SU is two shots in front of seventh-place Goucher and one shot back of the York (Pa.) 'B' team.

IN BRIEF

Sophomore Madison Ngo paced SU with an 11-over-par 84 with freshman Natalie Hill posting an 89, Katie Davis 93 and McKenzie Slattery 102.

Hill had the Hornets lone red number of the day, carding a birdie '4' on the par-5, 451-yard second.

Shenandoah is playing the tournament with four players.

Host York leads with a 318 and the Hornets are eight shots in front of ODAC rival Virginia Wesleyan.
