FRONT ROYAL, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's golf team stands in fifth place following day one of the Greene Turtle Invitational hosted at Shenandoah Valley Golf Club.

Playing SVGC to a par-71 and 5810 yards Shenandoah shot a collective 360 Saturday in the opening round to find itself in fifth place in the 12-team tournament, 50-woman tournament.

IN BRIEF

York (Pa.), with a 315, leads the tournament by four strokes over Stevenson. Shenandoah is 12 shots back of fourth place Catholic and two in front of No. 6 Virginia Wesleyan.

Junior McKenzie Slattery and freshman Natalie Hill shared SU medalist honors with each shooting 12-over-par 83.

Shelby Tapman, from York, leads after carding a four-over-par 75.

Slattery and Hill are tied for 15th.
