ROANOKE, Va. – Host Hollins University earned its third ODAC women's basketball win of the season Saturday with a 57-52 victory over Shenandoah.

HU (7-16, 3-13 ODAC) outscored the Hornets (10-13, 6-10) by eight points in the third period to provide the cushion it needed to earn just its second-ever victory over Shenandoah.

SU held its final lead at the 8:29 mark of the third when Shannon Kuhn made 1-of-2 from the line. Hollins answered with a 3-pointer on the ensuing trip down the floor which also kickstarted an 8-0 run.

Shenandoah would cut the deficit to two points, 40-38, on a pair of Kelsey Jones free throws at 3:48 only to see its hosts close out the stanza with another 8-0 run.

In the fourth, SU would again come to within two points, this time thanks to a Sarah Donley 3-pointer with 4:25 remaining, but could not complete the comeback.

Hollins scored nine of the game's final 15 points to clinch the win.
