ARLINGTON, Va. – Host Marymount University combined a hot shooting night along with a strong defensive effort to down visiting Shenandoah 74-39 in non-league women's basketball action Monday night at Verizon Sports Arena.
The Saints (3-1) shot 59 percent in the first half (19-of-32), including 10-of-16 (63 percent) in the second quarter on their way to a 46-15 halftime lead over Shenandoah (2-2).
MU led 25-7 after one and kept the pressure up in the second, scoring 21 of the 30 points in the quarter to take the 31-point lead into the break.
Marymount forced the Hornets into 17 first half turnovers, which led to 29 points, and had a 17-7 edge on the glass.
The Saints ended up scoring 40 points off of 27 Hornets turnovers in the contest.
Ashley Stone had nine points to back up Sondrol.
Marymount ended up with a 34-19 edge on the glass and shot an even 50 percent (31-of-62) for the game.
