Track & Field Completes Weekend at UMW

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Shenandoah University track & field programs wrapped up the weekend competition at the Battleground Relays hosted by Mary Washington Saturday afternoon.

Saturday's results are highlighted by four top-three finishers for the men and six top-three women's performances.

For the men, Elijah Morton took second in the 100 meters, Zachary Barton finished second in the 1,500 meters and the 4x400 relay team also took second.

On the women's side, distance runners Aislynn Smith and Rebecca Doran took first in the 1,500 meter and 5K, respectively.

Thrower Renee Custer had a big day with second place showings in both the javelin and discus. Custer's throw of 36.09 meters is a six-meter personal best in the javelin.

 BY THE NUMBERS

Over the course of the weekend, Shenandoah saw a school record fall along with 13 conference qualifying marks and 18 personal records. SU took first place in six events.

QUOTABLE

"This was a great final regular-season weekend," Head Coach Andrew Marrocco said.  "We are mentally and physically preparing the final touches for ODAC Championships in two weeks. I am extremely proud of the effort from the squads throughout the entire weekend!"

Track & Field will be off from competition to prepare for the ODAC Championships on April 19th and 20th.
