Track Wraps Up Day One at W&L Carnival

LEXINGTON, Va.- The Shenandoah University men's and women's track team opened up Friday at Washington and Lee in the first day of competition at the Track & Field Carnival.

Friday's results are headlined by a trio of throwers placing top ten in their respective events.

Sophomore Renee Custer placed fifth in the women's hammer with a throw of 37.38 meters. Classmate Natalie Lepri came in seventh with a throw of 36.68 meters. Both women qualified for ODAC championships with today's results.

Custer would go on the take eighth in the women's discus with a toss of 33.80 meters.

Freshman John Kindig's hammer throw of 37.06 meters was good for a 9th place finish and on ODAC qualifying mark.

On the track, Emily Miller and Rebecca Doran cracked the top-10 with 5th and 9th place in the 5,000 meter race.

The squad saw 12 personal bests and five conference championship qualifying marks.
