School Record Set At Midwest Invitational

The Shenandoah University track and field team competed in Roanoke, Va. and Geneva, Ohio at the Finn Pincus Invitational and SPIRE Midwest Invitational, respectively, on Saturday.

GENEVA, Ohio/ ROANOKE, Va. - The Shenandoah University Track & Field team returned to action Saturday with split entries at the SPIRE Midwest and the Finn Pincus invitationals hosted by Roanoke College.

The women's 4x400m relay team set a new school record at SPIRE while the two teams posted 26 personal records and 13 conference championship qualifying marks. 

SPIRE Midwest Invitational Recap

Ten athletes competed at SPIRE and saw two top-10 finishes and the school record in what is one of the biggest indoor meets in the midwest. Over 50 schools across all divisions competed.

Shamyra Wilkerson, Delia Mack, Ariana Williams and Emily Miller set the new program mark in the 4 x 400 with a 4:21.64. They bested the previous mark  by .01 seconds.

Wilkerson tied her own 200 meter record mark with a 25.97, seventh place showing. There were 117 women in the event.

On the men's side, Jason White finished sixth in the triple jump and 12th in the long jump.

Justin Mehrer ran his mile in 4:33.99 to place 29th.

Eight ODAC Championship qualifying marks and six personal bests were recorded in Ohio this weekend.

Finn Pincus Invitational Recap

A pair of top-10 finishes in the 1000 meters was the highlight at Roanoke. Whitney Anderson and Jeremy Allinger posted personal bests to place seventh and eighth in their respective races.

Two men put up ODAC Championship qualifying marks: Allinger in the 800m and John Kindig in both the shot put and weight throws.

Natalie Lepri and Jamie Ryan both qualified for ODAC Championships in the weight throw. 

20 personal records were set at the Finn Pincus Invitational.

QUOTABLE 

"I am happy with the results from both meets," head coach Andrew Marrocco said. "There were a lot of personal best and conference qualifing performances today. We are looking forward to all being together at Ithaca next weekend."
