WINCHESTER, Va.- The Shenandoah University indoor track teams returned to action Sunday by hosting the inaugural Wilkins Center Invitational on the JJ Smith Track at the James R. Wilkins, Jr. Athletics & Events Center.

The two teams combined for seven wins and 33 top-3 finishes in finishing second. SU also had 12 student-athletes post ODAC qualifying marks.

Scored as a combined meet with the men and the women, the Hornets were second with 303 points. Washington & Lee won it with 406 points and McDaniel third with 22.

The Shenandoah women had five of the Hornets seven victories, taking the long jump as well as the shot put and weight throws in the field events and winning the 400 and 3000 meter races on the track.

The SU men had two wins on the track, taking the 60 and 200 meter dashes.

"What a great day for our first-ever indoor track meet," head coach Andy Marrocco said. "We are so proud to be able to host a meet in an outstanding facility and considering the weather, everything went as smoothly as could be expected.

"We had an outstanding day with seven wins and we can't wait to do this again next year."
