WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University softball team scored a combined 25 runs in sweeping a non-league doubleheader from Christendom Wednesday afternoon.

Shenandoah (17-16) was a 13-0 winner in the opener before taking out Christendom (10-8) by a 12-0 score in the nightcap. Both games were halted after five innings.


The Hornets scored two runs in the first and 11 runs in the seconds to dominate the Crusaders.

Both runs in the first were unearned as Christendom committed three errors.

In the second, SU scored the 11 runs on 10 hits and three more CC errors.

Jenna Barr and Sydney Viar both had two hits in the frame with Viar driving in three runs and both Barr and Allie Schey two.

Morgan Henley (3-4) got the win. She allowed just one hit, a leadoff single in the fifth, while striking out eight.


The nightcap was a near replay of the opener with Shenandoah scoring six runs in the first, three in the second, two in the third and one in the fourth.

Megan Scalley (6-5) struck out seven and allowed three hits and one walk.

Barr finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored with Taylor Glover adding three hits and three RBI.

Barr had the game-winning RBI with a single to center in the first that brought Schey in from third. Schey was hit by pitch to lead off the Shenandoah 1st.


Shenandoah begins a busy weekend with a 2 p.m. ODAC home doubleheader versus Guilford Saturday.
