FREDERICK, Md. – The Shenandoah University softball team ran its winning streak to four games Wednesday by sweeping a non-league doubleheader from Hood College.
Shenandoah (6-7) was a 6-2 winner in the opener before completing the sweep with a 10-0, five-inning victory over the Blazers (3-5) in the nightcap.
The Hornets scored five runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to take control of game one over Hood.
Morgan Henley (2-3) got the win after pitching the first 6.0 innings of the contest. She allowed two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out three.
A five-run first gave coach Marlena Kotynski's club a commanding lead and the offense kept up the pressure with three runs in the second and two more in the third to provide the final margin of victory.
Carly Shaw was 2-for-4 to round out the women with multiple hits.
Robinson (4-2) scattered three hits in four innings to earn the win in the circle. She did not walk a batter and had one strikeout.
The Hornets continue this road swing with a non-league doubleheader at Brevard (N.C.) Friday afternoon.
