WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University dropped a 6-3 non-league men's tennis decision to Division II Shepherd University Friday afternoon.

Shenandoah (1-6) got its lone contested win with a 6-0, 6-3 Brenton Baugh victory at No. 4 singles.

IN BRIEF

The Hornets had a 2-0 lead at the dawn of the match as SU accepted Shepherd (1-5) forfeits at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.

In doubles, the Rams won 8-0 at No. 1 and 8-3 at No. 2 to knot the contest at 2-2.

Baugh's straight set victory at No. 4 gave Shenandoah a 3-2 advantage, but Shepherd had the answer.

The Rams swept the remaining four singles matches, rallying from a one-set down at both No. 2 and No. 3, to steal the win. The 1-6, 6-1, 6-2 triumph by Evan Dokken over Bryan Harris at No. 2 was the match-clinching victory.

The match at No. 5, between Kyle Denning and Ryan Cox, was also a three-set match.
