FOREST, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's lacrosse team is the pre-season No. 8 selection of the league's coaches in poll results released Friday by the league office.

Shenandoah, which finished tied for fifth last season in the ODAC race and qualified for the league tournament for the first time in program history, has 30 points to come in one point back of No. 7 Bridgewater.

Coach Tim Marshall's Hornets are 11 points clear of ninth-place Virginia Wesleyan.

Defending champion Hampden-Sydney is the pick to win it all again in 2018 with 77 points and seven first place votes.

The Tigers are five points in front of Lynchburg. LC had two first place votes.

Washington and Lee had 64 points and the remaining first place vote to take the third position by one point over Roanoke.

Voting was done on 9-1 basis with coaches forbidden to vote for their own teams in the poll.

Shenandoah opens the 2018 season on Wednesday, February 14 versus Averett University. The game will be the first in history for the Cougars.
