Since my last blog we have unfortunately dropped ODAC games to two very good teams. However, we take a positive in that we have now gone through the gauntlet of ODAC teams in our schedule and played better and better each time out.
We have greatly improved since our ODAC opener against Virginia Wesleyan. Our scores are getting closer and we feel like we are competing with these teams.
A lot of unordinary things went on during the Roanoke game - our captain Eric Hobby scored his first goal of the season after clearing the ball the length of the field and seeming beating every guy on the field in a Maroon jersey. I guess that proves that he does, in fact, have the best power cradle in the ODAC.
Ed. Note: A goalie must serve his own penalty in men's lacrosse.
We came out flat against Hampden-Sydney in the first quarter, but pulled it together the rest of the game. They are a very good team and we once again proved to ourselves that we can play with and compete against the top teams in the ODAC when we have everybody on the same page.
Stephen LaTona led our team with five goals followed by Frank Tejera who added a goal and three assists. I also have to congratulate one of my roommates, Howie Lumsden, who scored his first college goal with two seconds left in the first half to send us into halftime with two unanswered goals.
Looking forward, we have a full week of practice to prepare for a huge game at Randolph Macon on Saturday and we are looking to start our run into the ODAC playoffs starting then. Another big thanks to all of our team parents who have supported us throughout this season by coming to our away games or watching online when they cannot make it. Hope to see you all on Saturday!
