WINCHESTER, Va. – Junior Chris Frazier is in his first year of bringing us an inside look at the men's lacrosse program. This week, Chris recaps another busy week for the lax program.
We have had two games since my last blog; we played Frostburg State on Wednesday and Hood College Saturday. We lost to a very good FSU team 9-2. Our defense played very well against a team that will be ranked sooner than later in the top 25 of Division III and this was a big improvement from playing teams of this caliber in the past.
We finished our four-games-in-eight-days stretch with an overtime 9-8 win over Hood Saturday afternoon. We knew going into this game that Hood had this game circled on their calendars after we beat them on their home field last season. Terrence Mulvey scored the game winner in OT after hitting the pipe at least three times during the game. As a team, we needed a game like this to prove to us that after an opponent goes on a run and even takes the lead on us that we can fight back.
We have done very well fighting through these games and are still working on becoming a battle-tested team. After watching film as a team we have voted that our captain, Eric Hobby, has the best power cradle in the ODAC as well. ;)
This week, we are home on Thursday against another good team in Susquehanna University and I know I am speaking for all the returners this is one of the games we have been waiting to play since the schedule came out.
We can't wait to get out there and finish our five-game homestand on a high note. This weekend, we head to New York to play SUNY Maritime on Saturday. This is only our second road game of the season but I think our team responds very well on the road and our energy will be high going into the Bronx for this contest.
Thanks to everybody again for the support in our first five games this season!
