WINCHESTER, Va. - Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Mike Kruger announced his first recruiting class Monday morning.
Kruger, who is preparing for his second season at the helm of the SU men's lacrosse program, has recruited 24 student-athletes into his program for the 2013 season.
Lyons will have two seasons of eligibility remaining and Paul three.
The class represents six states: Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Nine of the 24 student-athletes are staying in-state to continue their collegiate academic and athletic careers.
Eight hail from Maryland, four from New Jersey and one each from Pennsylvania, Delaware and New York.
The offensive players in the class combined for more than 350 points this past spring with the defensive recruits piling up more than 500 groundballs and 500 caused turnovers during their prep careers.
"Our coaching staff worked very hard to put this class together," Kruger said. "Our assistant coaches, Nick Northern and Mark Crisco, both deserve much of the credit. This class will be instrumental in leading our program into the ODAC this year.
"These young men are not only great athletes from strong lacrosse backgrounds, they are also great people and excellent students. I know they will make valuable contributions to our program and to the entire SU community."
