ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Shenandoah University men's golf team stands ninth after day one of the Don Scalf Invitational hosted by N.C. Wesleyan.

Playing the first of two rounds at the Belmont Lake Golf Club, the Hornets shot a collective 311 Sunday to find themselves in ninth place out of 13 teams.

SU is two shots back of William Peace and host N.C. Wesleyan, thanks to a collective eight-under-par 280, leads by six strokes over Greensboro.

Senior Connor McCarthy had a one-over-par 73 to lead Shenandoah on day one. He is currently tied for 14th
