NCAA Preview

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University field hockey team opens up NCAA Tournament play Wednesday afternoon with a 3 p.m. game at the University of Rochester.

The Hornets (13-8) take on No. 15 Rochester (17-4) for the right to face defending national champion Middlebury in Saturday's Sweet 16 round.

That game, along with an Elite 8 contest, will be played at Messiah College in Grantham, Pennsylvania.

Sophomore Morgan Payne leads Shenandoah with 12 goals and five assists for 29 points. Freshman Taylor Hayes is second in scoring with eight goals and 10 assists for 26 points.
Both women were named to the ODAC All-Tournament team with Hayes scoring the game-winner in the semi-finals versus Lynchburg and Payne netting the game-winner in the championship versus Washington and Lee.
Goalkeeper Jessica Brown has 75 saves and a 1.42 goals against average in 1231 minutes of action over 20 games. The senior has all 13 of the Hornets wins and five shutouts.

Callie Fisher leads the Yellowjackets with 13 goals and five assists for 31 points with Clare Dickerson and Maya Haigis both posting 22 points each.

Gabrielle Cantley and Kiran Sundaram share goalkeeping duties with Cantley playing 720 minutes and Sundaram 708. The two women have a combined 38 saves and seven shared shutouts.
