WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University baseball team won its third game in as many days Thursday with a 4-0 non-league shutout victory over Mount Aloysius.
Shenandoah (13-7) scored two runs in the fifth and one each in the sixth and seventh to pull away from Mount Aloysius (19-5).
Verzaleno allowed four hits and issued three walks while striking out four. Templeton was nearly perfect in notching his second save of the spring – he walked one, did not give up a hit and struck out three.
The Hornets two runs in the fifth were unearned as MAC (19-5) could not handle Tyler Kroll's two-out groundball to short. Matt Moon and Robert Marcelle, who had singled and doubled, respectively, scored on the play.
All four Shenandoah runs were unearned.
Marcelle had three of the Hornets eight hits.
Douglas Cannon took the loss for the Mounties. He gave up all four unearned runs and eight hits in 7.0 innings of work.
