MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Shenandoah University will begin the 2019 baseball season as the nation's No. 25 team according to pre-season poll results released Thursday afternoon by

The Hornets, the 2018 ODAC champions, have 84 points to come in 11 points back of No. 24 Rhodes (Tenn.) in the pre-season poll.

Shenandoah won 35 games last season, its eighth season with at least 30 wins in the past 10 years, on its way to its second ODAC championship in six seasons of league play.

Coach Kevin Anderson's club advanced into the Mid-East Regional in Adrian, Michigan, where SU defeated Marietta (Ohio) before falling to Wooster (Ohio) and Ithaca (N.Y.).

Wooster is the pre-season No. 1 this season, grabbing 16 of 25 first-place votes and 588 points to come in 32 points in front of UW-Whitewater.

SU is one of two ODAC teams in the pre-season poll. Randolph-Macon is the pre-season No. 5. 

Shenandoah opens its 2019 season on February 16 versus No. 11 Misericordia.
