WINCHESTER, Va. – The No. 11/26 Shenandoah University baseball team scored runs in six consecutive innings Tuesday in a 22-4 non-league victory over Messiah College.
Shenandoah (27-4) won for the 15th straight time as it scored runs in every inning from the second through the seventh.
After Messiah (8-15) scored a single run in the second, the Hornets scored four runs in the second, one in the third and eight in the fourth to blow the contest open.
SU had 22 hits in the win, including one from every starter with eight of the nine also driving in at least one run.
Tristan Baker, Keegan Woolford and Grant Thompson all had three hits with Woolford missing only a triple to hit for the cycle and Thompson lacing three doubles.
Woolford, Thompson, Luke Nussman and Jamie Naill drove in three runs each with Baker, Nick Goode and Chase Smallwood each driving in a pair.
Naill's three RBI came on a three-run HR to cap a five-run fifth.
Freshman southpaw Michael Prosperi settled in after the first to earn his second win in as many varsity starts.
Prosperi (2-0) allowed three runs (one earned) on eight hits and two walks in 7.0 innings of work. CJ Morton and Tyler Ritenour pitched the eighth and ninth, respectively.
Ritenour was perfect in his appearance, registering two strikeouts and a comebacker to close out the contest.
SU travels to Eastern Mennonite on Wednesday at 3:00.
