WINCHESTER, Va. – No. 17/16 Shenandoah University won its fourth baseball game of the season with a 9-0 shutout of Mary Washington Tuesday in non-league action.
The shutout victory for Shenandoah (4-2) is the Hornets second this season.
Bugonowicz (1-1) scattered four hits and one walk while striking out four to earn his first victory of the season.
Morse had six strikeouts in his four innings of work.
Junior Keegan Woolford provided his hurlers with all of the offense they would need with a three-run blast in the bottom of the first.
After UMW (3-4) starter Alexander Ford saw the inning extended with an infield error and then hit a batter, Woolford hit his first dinger as a Hornet with the three-run shot to right.
Ford (0-1) then reloaded the bases with three straight walks before issuing a bases loaded pass to Robert Marcelle for the hosts' fourth run of the frame.
The Hornets rode that four-run advantage until breaking the game open with three runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth.
Delavergne led a 12-hit attack with a 3-for-6 day that included the three RBI.
Woolford and Marcelle both had two hits with the former driving in three runs and the latter one.
Ford took the loss after allowing four runs on four hits and six walks in 3.0 innings.
Shenandoah returns to the diamond on Saturday for a noon doubleheader versus CCNY.
