WINCHESTER, Va. – No. 1/1 Shenandoah University completed its baseball regular season with a 6-4 non-league victory over York (Pa.) Monday afternoon.
Celebrating its Senior Day, the Hornets (34-6) used all 12 seniors in the contest, including three players that made their first starts of the year and two: pitcher Ryan Kinter and outfielder Stefan Kresslein, making their first-ever starts.
Kinter (1-0) got the win by pitching the first 3.0 innings of the contest. He gave up just one hit before turning it over to classmate Steve Jones to start the fourth.
Hott got the final six outs, striking out two, to earn his seventh save of the season.
The Hornets banged out 12 hits in the game, scoring two runs in the first and single runs in the second, third, sixth and eighth innings to pull away from the Spartans (18-18).
Loman, who also served as the squad's designated hitter, was 3-for-4 with a run batted in. The RBI proved to be the game-winner as he brought home Neil Dutton with a single up the middle in the sixth.
Joel Kenney (3-3) took the loss for YCP. He allowed five runs (three earned) on 10 hits in 7.0 innings.
