AUSTIN, Texas - Junior Jake Loew has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District V first team for baseball in selections announced Thursday afternoon by the organization.
Loew, a 3.30 student as a business administration major, was selected first team All-District V at designated hitter.
The Binghamton, New York native is hitting .385 with 13 doubles, seven triples, six home runs and 51 RBI this season for the 32-10 Hornets.
Loew was previously named second team All-ODAC as well as the ODAC Player of the Week on April 25.
He is leading the team in doubles, triples, home runs and RBI and is second in batting average. The left-handed slugger has hit safely in 31 games this season, including 16 of his last 17 contests.
Loew is now a candidate for Academic All-America honors. He would be the 17th student-athlete, and fifth baseball player, to earn Academic All-America accolades should he be selected.
To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must have at least a 3.3 GPA on a 4.0 scale and be a starter or important reserve on their squads. Nominees are then voted on in one of eight districts across the country by CoSIDA members.
The Academic All-America team will be announced later this month.
