WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah bats were hot again on Saturday as the Hornets swept a non-league baseball doubleheader from CCNY.
No. 9/15 Shenandoah (8-1) was a 10-1 winner in the opener before winning game two over the Beavers (0-10) by a 4-1 score.
Seven different SU players recorded a hit in game one.
While the Hornets tacked on early runs in the first, third and fifth innings, it was a dominant sixth that set SU apart.
The grand slam is his second of the week.
CCNY added a tally in the the seventh but it was too late, leading to the 10-1 victory.
On the mound, Hornets' pitcher Michael Scimanico picked up his first win of the year with 15 strikeouts in six innings of work.
In the second contest, SU remained in control. While the Hornets had just five hits in game two, a dominating outing by Zach Teeple (2-0) was the difference. The southpaw recorded nine strikeouts and gave up just five hits in the win.
Shenandoah will host CCNY again on Sunday at 1 p.m.
