MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Shenandoah University baseball team has risen seven spots from its pre-season ranking in the week one D3baseball.com Top 25 poll released Tuesday.
The Hornets, 5-1 on the season after Sunday's 22-1 drubbing of Penn St.-Altoona, are the No. 9 team in the week one poll after coming in at No. 16 in the pre-season ranking.
Cortland (N.Y.) State remains as the nation's top team. The Red Dragons have a perfect 625 points on 25 first place votes to outdistance No. 2 UW-LaCrosse by 71 points.
Shenandoah is sandwiched between two of UWL's conference foes - the Hornets are 74 points back of UW-Whitewater and 13 in front of UW-Stevens Point.
SU is also one of two ODAC schools in the poll. Randolph-Macon enters at Shenandoah's old spot, No. 16, after having been one of a host of schools receiving voting consideration in the pre-season poll.
