MINNEAPOLIS, Minn./ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Shenandoah University has improved by a total of seven spots in a pair of baseball ranking polls released Tuesday.
Shenandoah, 9-2-1 on the season after doubleheader sweeps of Penn St. - Altoona and Hampden-Sydney, a single victory over Washington and Lee and a 2-2, 13-inning tie versus Catholic last week, is No. 11 in the NCBWA/D3baseball.com poll and No. 21 in the ABCA poll.
That represents a three-place improvement in the D3baseball.com poll and four spots in the ABCA poll.
Shenandoah has 347 points in the D3baseball poll to come in one point behind No. 10 UW-Stevens Point and 16 points clear of Southern Maine.
Salisbury, with eight first place votes and 595 points, is the nation's new No. 1. The Sea Gulls are one point in front of No. 2 Cortland (N.Y.) State.
In the ABCA poll, UW-Whitewater remains as the No. 1 team with Cortland State second and Salisbury third.
Shenandoah is back in action this afternoon at 3:30 in a non-league game at Dickinson.
