INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Shenandoah University baseball team remains fourth in the final South Region poll released Thursday by the NCAA.
The Hornets have been the No. 4 team in each of the three previous polls released by the NCAA Division III baseball committee and remain in that spot in the final public poll of the season.
The rankings, determined by the South Region Advisory Committee, are used by the National Committee as a tool to assist in selecting the national championship field.
SU, with a 26-9 regional record, trails Birmingham-Southern, Christopher Newport and Salisbury in the South. All three of those schools have already clinched Pool A (automatic qualifer) berths into the NCAA Tournament.
The NCAA announces the tournament field on Monday. Shenandoah is hoping for one of the 16 available Pool C (at-large) berths into the tourney.
