NEWMARKET, Va. - Shenandoah University baseball standouts Keaton Neeb and Kyle Scallion both were major contributors to a 6-4 North victory over the South in the Valley League All-Star game Sunday night.
Neeb, who entered the game at catcher in the top of the first due to an injury, finished his night 1 for 2 with an RBI single in five innings of action.
Neeb drove in the first run of the game with a two-out single to right in the bottom of the second.
Scallion came on in the ninth to nail down the victory, and after allowing a leadoff double to South MVP MJ Sartin (Waynesboro), finished off the game with two groundouts and a strikeout.
Scallion, the Hornets closer who currently leads the VBL with a 0.95 ERA, struck out Harrisonburg's Dodson McPherson to end the contest. McPherson plays for DII Wingate during the collegiate season.
Both Scallion and Neeb will represent the VBL in its second-ever Mid-Atlantic All-Star game against the Cal Ripken League All-Stars on Monday night in Harrisonburg.
