LAS VEGAS, Nevada — The Shenandoah University men's basketball program recently took its classroom learning on the road, traveling to Las Vegas, Nevada for an experiential learning trip centered around the HBCU Classic featuring Grambling State University and Jackson State University.
During the multi-day experience, student-athletes and staff had the opportunity to assist Position Sports with event operations for the weekend's festivities. On Friday, the team worked the official pep rally in downtown Las Vegas, helping with logistics, fan engagement, and event flow. The following day, the Hornets played a k

ey role in game-day operations for the HBCU Classic held at Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders.
The trip provided valuable hands-on learning in the areas of sports management, event coordination, and operations — all while giving student-athletes a behind-the-scenes look at how major collegiate sporting events are executed.
"This was an incredible experience for our team," said Head Coach
Nick Doyle "Our players not only learned about the business side of sports but also gained an appreciation for the teamwork and preparation that goes into hosting a large-scale event. It was a great opportunity to represent Shenandoah University on a national stage."
The experience aligns with Shenandoah University's commitment to experiential learning, giving students real-world opportunities that extend beyond the classroom and the court.
The Hornets' trip to Las Vegas continues the program's tradition of combining athletics, academics, and professional development — preparing student-athletes for success long after graduation.
