WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Tuesday that for the duration of the 2018-19 basketball seasons, all government employees and their families will be offered free admission to the Hornets men's and women's home games.
Starting with the women's game versus Virginia Wesleyan tomorrow night, Shenandoah has at least seven (four men's, three women's) home games remaining in the 2018-19 season.
"There are a number of federal government employees in the area and we know that money is tight for a significant number of them," Director of Athletics Bridget Lyons, Ph.D, said. "A suggestion was made to us that we offer free admission to our games and we readily accepted. It was a great deal and we are happy to provide an outlet for these employees and their families.
"All these employees need to do is show their government ID at the door. We welcome them and their families to the James R. Wilkins, Jr. Athletics & Events Center for our games."
