WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Bridget Lyons, PhD announced Monday that Sydney Anderson '13 has joined the department in a full-time role.

Anderson, a former women's lacrosse captain for the Hornets, joins as assistant athletic communications director.

The Aurora, Colorado native has served as a part-time assistant director for the past three years, primarily as the primary statistician for the men's and women's lacrosse teams, while also assisting with game operations for the Hornets additional 19 intercollegiate athletics programs.

"I am so pleased that Sydney is joining us," Dr. Lyons said. "She is a perfect fit given her experience as an undergraduate at SU and her recent part-time work for the athletic department. I have witnessed her passion for Shenandoah athletics and her commitment to our student-athletes.

"I am so happy to have her join our team."

Anderson will have primary sport coverage with the women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, field hockey, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's soccer and men's and women's indoor and outdoor track & field teams.

"I am so happy to be back home," Anderson said. "I enjoyed my time working in communications as an undergrad, and it has even been more rewarding in the past three years as a part-time assistant. I got to work with a number of student-athletes, helping to tell their stories, and that has been very rewarding.

"I look forward to working with all of the coaches and student-athletes in my new role."
