WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Thursday the addition of a parking shuttle for the remainder of the home football slate.
This free shuttle, which will run continuously beginning two hours prior to kickoff and ending approximately one hour following the final horn, will pick up passengers in the 'D' lot adjacent to the Brandt Student Center and the parking garage.
At the stadium, the shuttle will make two stops – one at the visitors gate and the second in the Perry-Werner End Zone lot.
Following the game, the shuttle will work in reverse – picking up fans at the two gates and dropping them in 'D' lot.
"With the addition of the parking lots adjacent to the James R. Wilkins, Jr. Athletics & Events Center, we wanted to do everything possible to not park cars along Shockey Drive," Interim Director of Athletics Brian Wigley stated.
"After our home opener, we realized that we needed a shuttle from main campus to accomplish that goal.
"This two-van shuttle is going to prove to be extremely convenient for our fans. They can park in the parking garage and pick up the shuttle right outside of the garage. The trip should be less than five minutes to the stadium and will drop fans off very close to the entrances."
Fans holding handicap placards are invited to drive to the stadium and park in one of the handicap spots in the Wilkins Center lot. From there, golf cart shuttles are available to the stadium entrances.
The Wilkins Center lot contains approximately 200 spaces and is a $5 per car charge. There is no charge to park on campus and use the shuttle.
