WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University Head Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach Andy Marrocco announced his 2018 schedule Thursday morning.
Marrocco, preparing for his 12th season at the helm of the men's and women's programs, has six regular season meets on the docket prior to the ODAC Championships in Virginia Beach on October 28.
That trip to Hampton Roads will be one of four for the two squads this fall as both the men and women open with the ODAC Preview on Friday, September 1 at Virginia Wesleyan before competing in the CNU Invitational on October 14 and the NCAA South/Southeast Regionals on November 11.
Both the CNU Invite and the NCAA Regionals will be held at Lee Hall Mansion in Newport News.
After competing at the Sea Gull Opener hosted by Salisbury University on September 2 and the JMU Invitational on September 9, the Hornets host the annual Hornet Harrier on Saturday, September 23.
Held at Kernstown Battlefield south of Winchester for the ninth straight year, the women will run 5000 meters, the men 6000 and there will also be an open two-mile race.
The final regular season meet is the Mike Woods Invitational hosted by Geneseo (N.Y.) State on September 30.
"We have continually tweaked our schedule to prepare ourselves for the ODAC and South Region championships," Marrocco said. "This year's schedule really sets us up for success - we are going to see both the ODAC and South Region championship courses prior to competition and the race at Geneseo always has an excellent field.
"We are excited to host the Hornet Harrier again this year as we already have a number of excellent programs planning on attending."
