Harriers Ninth in South/Southeast

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Shenandoah University women's cross country team is the No. 9 squad in the South/Southeast Region in rankings announced Tuesday by the USTFCCCA.

The Hornets, who were No. 8 in the pre-season poll, have appeared in each ranking since the middle of the 2009 season.

SU and Mary Washington, the team that caused the Hornets' displacement from the No. 8 spot, were two of six teams in the poll to switch spots. Emory (Ga.), Rhodes (Tenn.) and Centre (Ky.) maintain the top three positions while Virginia Wesleyan holds steady at No. 10.

The remaining six teams - Trinity (Texas), Christopher Newport, Lynchburg, Mary Washington, Bridgewater and Shenandoah - all moved one or two spots up or down.

The SU women have two wins and a seventh place showing in three races so far this fall. The squad is off this week and returns to racing on September 24 at the Dickinson Long/Short Invitational.
