Two Earn League Honors

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Shenandoah University had two female student-athletes earn USA South Conference weekly honors in selections announced Monday afternoon by the league office.

Senior Kat Terza was named as the league's defensive Player of the Week for women's soccer while freshman Dorothy Earner garnered cross country Rookie of the Week accolades.

For Earner, it is the second time in as many weeks that she has grabbed this honor.

Terza helped the soccer team to a 2-1 week with seven saves in just under 200 minutes of action.

After combining with freshman Alyssa Plourde to backstop the Hornets to a 1-0 victory over Eastern Mennonite on Wednesday, Terza had four saves as SU shutout Washington & Lee 1-0 Sunday afternoon.

Terza is a three-time first team All-USA South honoree and has earned weekly honors six times in her career.

Earner finished second to teammate Amy Smith at the McDaniel 3K Invitational this past Saturday with a 12:06. She and Smith bested a field of 66 runners and the Hornet women captured the team portion of the event.

The women's soccer team is back in action tomorrow afternoon at Bridgewater while the harriers are off until competing in the Dickinson Long/Short Invitational on September 24.
