Women Harriers Ranked
NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Shenandoah University women's cross country team earned its first ever regional ranking in polls announced Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Fresh off of a runner-up place showing at the Dickinson Long/Short Invitational this past Saturday, the Hornet women are the No. 9 team in the latest South/Southeast Regional rankings.
In addition to the second place showing this past week, the women were third at the season-opening meet at Salisbury two weeks ago. The women have had three top 10 individual performances in the two events.
SU is one of two USA South Conference schools to be ranked this week; Christopher Newport University is No. 3 behind Emory (Ga.) and Rhodes (Tenn.). Six of the 10 schools in this week's rankings are from Virginia - in addition to SU and CNU, Mary Washington is fourth, Washington & Lee fifth, Lynchburg sixth, Roanoke eighth and Bridgewater tenth.
The women, along with the SU men, will be back in action this weekend at the Don Cathcart Invitational hosted by Salisbury University.
