Harriers Drop to Seventh
NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Shenandoah University women's cross country team fell to No. 7 in the South/Southeast Regional poll released Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Despite finishing as the runner-up squad at the USA South Conference Championships this past weekend, the Hornets fell two spots to No. 7 in the week 8 South/Southeast Region poll.
The poll had considerable shuffling - Rhodes (Tenn.) vaulted over Emory (Ga.) for the top spot and Hendrix (Miss.) jumped into the poll at No. 6 in addition to SU and W&L swapping the Nos. 5 and 7 spots.
Mary Washington fell from No. 6 to ninth and Centre (Ky.) dropped out after having been ninth one week ago.
Catholic, at No. 8, and 10th place Roanoke remained in the same spots from weeks seven to eight.
The squad is off this weekend in preparation for the NCAA South/Southeast Regional meet in Greensboro, N.C. next Saturday morning.
