Women Harriers Rise to Fifth

NEW ORLEANS, La. -The Shenandoah University women's cross country team moved up another spot in the regional rankings this week in the week six polls announced Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

After two weeks as the No. 6 team in the poll, the Hornet women are the No. 5 team in the  South/Southeast Region this week.

Running without three of its top runners, SU was fourth this past weekend at the Hood College Invitational as freshman Roni Frye won the event.

The four positions in the poll are exactly the same as last week. Emory (Ga.) and Rhodes (Tenn.) are Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, with fellow USA South member Christopher Newport checking in at No. 3 and Lynchburg at No. 4.

Shenandoah passes Washington & Lee for the fifth spot; the Generals dropped to seventh this week behind Mary Washington. Catholic, Center (Ky.) and Roanoke round out the poll.

SU is off this week and is next in competition on October 31 at the USA South Conference championships.
