Women's XC Holds Steady

NEW ORLEANS, La. -The Shenandoah University women's cross country team maintained its regional ranking in the week five polls announced Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

For the second consecutive week, the Hornet women are the No. 6 team in the week five South/Southeast Regional poll.

This past weekend, the women finished second among Division III schools to Carnegie Mellon at the CMU Invitational in Pittsburgh. Carnegie Mellon is the No. 9 team in East Region.

The poll is exactly the same as last week. Emory (Ga.) and Rhodes (Tenn.) are Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, with fellow USA South member Christopher Newport checking in at No. 3. Six of the 10 schools in this week's rankings are from Virginia - in addition to SU and CNU, Lynchburg is fourth, Washington & Lee fifth, Mary Washington sixth and Roanoke ninth.

Centre (Ky.) rounds out the poll at No. 10.

The women run Saturday at the Hood College Invitational.
