Harriers Move Up Again

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Despite having an open week, the Shenandoah University women's cross country team improved by one position its regional ranking in polls announced Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

After moving up to seventh last week following a No. 9 entry in the South/Southeast Regional poll on September 8, the Hornet women are the No. 6 team in the week four poll.

As with last week, Shenandoah is one of two USA South Conference schools to be ranked; Christopher Newport University holds at No. 3 behind Emory (Ga.) and Rhodes (Tenn.). Six of the 10 schools in this week's rankings are from Virginia - in addition to SU and CNU, Lynchburg is fourth, Washington & Lee fifth, Mary Washington sixth and Roanoke ninth.

Centre (Ky.) is the only new team in the poll. They replace McMurry (Tex.) at No. 10.

The women run Saturday at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational in Pittsburgh.
