Women Second at Dickinson

CARLISLE, Pa. - The SU cross country teams continued their strong starts to the 2009 season with a pair of solid showings Saturday at the Dickinson College Long/Short Invitational.

Competing in the 4000 meter (short) portion of the event for both men and women, the Hornet women were 2^nd of 25 teams and the men 10^th out of 25.

Freshman Roni Frye was the top finisher for the women for the second straight outing with a 15:21 that was good for ninth out of 173 runners. Junior Jennie Ott backed up Frye by finishing 13^th at 15:40 and sophomore Amy Smith was 15^th with a 15:47.

Sophomore Josiah Renton led the men to that 10^th place showing by posting a 12:54, 19^th place finish. His classmate, Kyle Gutierrez, was 43^rd with a 13:21 and Jake Garcia 50^th at 13:27. There were 173 runners in the men's race.

The men and women return Salisbury next week for the Don Cathcart Invitational.
