Roanoke Tops Volleyball

WINCHESTER, Va. – Visiting Roanoke College outlasted the Shenandoah, 3-1, in an ODAC volleyball action Wednesday evening at Shingleton Gymnasium.

The Maroons (15-6, 5-5 ODAC) took the first two sets of the match 25-21 and 25-20. Shenandoah (11-13, 3-6) rebounded in the third with a 25-17 victory to continue the match.

Roanoke clinched the match by winning 25-20 in the fourth.

As they often do, seniors Jasmine Callahan and Rachel Cerretani orchestrated the Hornets offensive attack with 23 and 15 assists, respectively.

Caylin Harris and Michelle DiVito had eight kills apiece for hosts. Kaitlyn Kelley, Elizabeth Lamont, and Emily Cheatwood each added seven.

Lamont controlled the back row with 16 digs, while Harris contributed 14 and Kelley 11.

The Hornets are back in action Saturday as they welcome in Lynchburg and Lebanon Valley for a tri-match. They will take on the other Hornets of the ODAC at 11 a.m. in a conference matchup and then face off against the Dutchmen at 3 p.m. in a non-league contest. This is Homecoming Weekend at Shenandoah University and also Dig Pink Day in Shingleton.
